The gang watches sequels to previous Best of the Worst movies. This is the second time they’ve done this, making it a sequel sequel episode.

My life has meaning again. So long sadness my good friend. We’ll meet again soon.

  • B_P_L

Can’t decide if the slightly out-of-focus camera on Jay at the start was being operated by Rich (inexperienced in camera technique) or Mike (inexperienced in being sober).

  • B_P_L

Ha! Two minutes after I posted that snark, *then* I see the *Rich Evans Cam text come up onscreen!

Ok – good; I was starting to a) think I was imagining it and b) being a dick about something no one else would notice. Glad to be only half right.

  • I have profited 104000 dollars in 2016 by working from my home and I did it by working part-time for several h on daily basis. I followed work opportunity I stumbled upon from this website i found online and I am amazed that i was able to make so much money. It’s very user friendly and I’m so blessed that i found this. Check out what I did… please visit my account for webpage

  • B_P_L

    Fuck off Derek

  • frankelee

Let’s just hear the man out.

  • B_P_L

Normally I would, were it not for the fact that I made one hundred and *five* thousand dollars last year by working from home, so Derek is just wasting my time here.

  • frankelee

    You’re the hero we need.

  • Dug

What a pleasant surprise. Just what I needed to brighten up my shitty, wet and cold Thursday afternoon in Scotland.

  • JonahFalcon

Wasn’t that the Fantastic Four set Corman reused? You SAW that movie.

  • JonahFalcon

    PS. There’s a Carnosaur 3. Just sayin’.

  • JonahFalcon

Rich was using Len Kabasinski’s technique of keeping the background tapes in focus.

  • MacReady

I might be in the minority here, but I like the Mike-less BOTW episodes better. They tend to be a lot more energetic and funny.

  • JonahFalcon

Roger Corman started the careers of:

    Jack Nicholson
    Francis Ford Coppola
    Peter Bogdanovich
    Bruce Dern
    Robert De Niro
    Stephanie Rothman
    Martin Scorsese
    Jonathan Demme
    Sylvester Stallone
    Joe Dante
    John Sayles
    Ron Howard (as a director)
    James Cameron
    James Horner

  • JonahFalcon

Anyone else shop at Hope Depot?

  • Gallen Dugall

Mike has a more contemporary sense of humor where the rest are very midwest.

  • JonahFalcon

Rich is lucky they’re not doing the end to Trading Places with that monkey suit.

  • Like Icare

    Biggest star Michael McDonald?

But that’s John Savage right there, playing not-Ripley!
It was one of the 8 movies he was in that year. Guy has like 217 credits on imdb.

  • silverwheel

    Jiminy Cricket prick bastards.

  • durhay

RLM employees and family are illegible to use the Coupon Shot.

  • TheVerySpecialK

Well frickly frack, it’s about time.

  • Mr_Show

    Yay!

  • Like Icare

Soo… They may only use the money shot?

  • Beckoning Chasm

No Mike?! I want my money back!

  • Kaingerc

PumaKid, he skateboards like a moron.

  • Dom_DeLuise’s_Armpit_Child

The one right next to the Church of Our Lady of the Worthless Miracle on lonely street?!

  • Dom_DeLuise’s_Armpit_Child

I’ll fight for your right to be so wrong.

  • Dom_DeLuise’s_Armpit_Child

If man made global warming were true you could be warm and cozy, like it is here in Arizona, watching the English drown.

  • Dom_DeLuise’s_Armpit_Child

I saw Derek trying a blow job from his sister at their cousins wedding.

  • Dom_DeLuise’s_Armpit_Child

    And Roger Corman’s career.

  • Dom_DeLuise’s_Armpit_Child

Pumas really aren’t known for their skateboarding either.

  • Dom_DeLuise’s_Armpit_Child

This makes up for crippling loneliness.

  • odigity

The old man wants his money back!

  • Like Icare

There’s a little bit of Mike in all of us.

  • JonahFalcon

Actually, no. I believe Corman got his start at Fox, but Fox fucked him over (what’s old is new) The Gunfighter. I think he then worked with American International Pictures and Samuel Arkoff.

  • JonahFalcon

That explains all the rape charges against him.

  • Dom_DeLuise’s_Armpit_Child

    I just got served.

  • Wait’ll they find out that Michael McDonald is also in Carnosaur 3, playing a completely different character. For that matter, so is one of the main actors, again playing a (different) main character in 3.

  • JonahFalcon

You should be angry Dom DeLuise isn’t in The Skateboard Kid 2.

  • JonahFalcon

They took all my money! My money!

  • Dom_DeLuise’s_Armpit_Child

I’m totally like, angry that there’s a Skatboard Kid to begin with, dude.

  • Spoiled Ants

Thursdays are reserved for his AA meetings.

  • Spoiled Ants

What kind of Kamasutra t-shirt is Jack wearing?
I don’t get the nerd reference here, can somebody mansplain?

  • Yes.

  • Ret Marut

On the belt method of autoerotic asphyxiation: “Just in time for the money shot!”–Rich Evans, Filmmaker.

  • Tommy Wiseau

Who is excited for my sequel film, “The Room 2: This time its Roomier” .

Maybe Rich Evans will be my best friend

  • Ret Marut

My god, this episode is full of stars!

  • Seth

It was an ordinary day. Suddenly my Rich Evans sense tingled and I knew instantly a new BoTW had dropped. I barreled home. To be continued.

  • Sequels: The Sequel 2

  • Devil_Dinosaur

I guess by “contemporary” you mean he deliberately makes jokes that aren’t funny and stares at you.

  • Devil_Dinosaur

Anyone know which episode of Ash vs. Evil Dead they’re referring to at 08:56, or why Robert Tappert (I assume) tried to stop it?

  • Devil_Dinosaur

Could we stop saying things that were released “dropped” now? It wasn’t that long ago that only hipster cunts said “dropped” about their hipster cunt albums being released. Now it’s the most accepted term. Drop it, kids.

  • Stop trying to police how people fucking talk. You look like an asshole.

  • Ret Marut

Is that Gonga at the end? Shake hands with Gonga!

  • Derek Buccheri

I’m assuming it’s the second episode of season 2, the sequence in the morgue… with the butt. Read an article last fall specifically about that whole sequence and how Tappert fought against it

  • B_P_L

    Someone’s angry.

  • B_P_L

    Someone’s definitely angry.

  • Ret Marut

    Well said.

  • DanceOfBirther

    31:50 broke me. Sorry, Jack.

  • Craig Rigby

i read that raimi and campbell loved it but tappert wanted to be more serious for some reason. the only thing that i didnt like that much about season 2 was that they retconned ashes character development from the films. he didnt seem like a dumb jock asshole who banged everything he could until the deadites broke him and he took a few levels in badass. it was still great, just one of those nitpicks.

  • Joe Syxpac

That’s what Rich Evans brings to the table.

    Experience.

  • Derek Buccheri

Any inconsistencies from the films-to-show I chalk up to the films’ habit of retconning the previous movie with the sequel anyway, like the intro of Evil Dead 2 rewriting 1, so maybe the show is just continuing that trend accidentally?

    http://www.avclub.com/article/craig-digregorio-leaving-ash-vs-evil-dead-and-orig-247262
This is what I read about Tappert. I’m guessing the completely scrapped season 2 finale/showrunner exit, which Tappert had a big hand in, is what led the RLM guys to start their discussion in this video.

  • Bob

Future Zone: if Michael Bay wrote/directed Primer on a Roger Corman budget.

  • This. The showrunner wanted to expand the scope a little beyond just recreating the movies (a necessity if the show is to continue), and he got fired for his troubles, which is why season 2’s finale is back at the cabin – again.

  • stryker1121

Derek’s assuming this webzone full of NEETs has any interest in working.

  • Devil_Dinosaur

How is that angry? Someone’s a bore.

  • JNJ

On the shelves behind Jay right at the start, a movie called The Chilling, which stars both Dan Haggerty AND Linda Blair. That better show up on a future BOTW.

  • Gary V

Is Mike Stoklasa dead? Just tell us strait out Jay.

  • Ret Marut

I think RICH EVANS is a more likely suspect.

  • stryker1121

Rich nailing that Kung Fu joke is the happiest he’s ever been in life.

  • Moor Cow Belle

The musical flourish that accompanies David Carradine’s blasting of the helicopter (at 7:50) sounds a lot like the musical flourish that concludes the Millennium Falcon’s escape from the mouth of the space slug in the Empire Strikes Back, don’t you think?

  • DanceOfBirther

If by Gonga you mean the eponymous star of Konga, then yes, it’s Konga.

  • Ret Marut

Nope. I mean GONGA. See John Huston’s WISE BLOOD adaption.

  • DanceOfBirther

Ha. Found the clip on YouTube. I’m definitely going to watch the whole thing.

  • Ret Marut

Enjoy. It’s a classic–as is the source novel.

  • Pop Culture Reference

I’m still waiting for “Geteven 2: The Shimmy Shimmy Shake!”

  • Pop Culture Reference

**plays 9-minute outtro to “Layla” over “Goodfellas” montage**

  • RLMkeepitup

would love to see john de hart and niel breen co-direct and co-star

  • So Ted Priar was friends with the characters from Primer?

  • Pop Culture Reference

They don’t call Josh The Wizard for no reason. He’s probably really good at using a sawzall and deposited the remains in Lake Michigan.

  • Pop Culture Reference

I always thought the Grizzly Adams show needed more sexualized Satanism.

  • Pop Culture Reference

Want to see my Time Machine? First you need to take off your pants. Now wear this Gimp Mask.

  • Pop Culture Reference

    Using the c-word. Ooo, edgy!

  • Pop Culture Reference

Where are the Rich Evans-Approved RedLetterMedia Auto-erotic Asphyxiation Neck Belts in the RLM Store? Asking for a friend.

  • Pop Culture Reference

I thought that emotion was the hallmark of the Breitbart message boards?

  • Pop Culture Reference

    DONALD PLEASANCE: PyoomaKid!

  • Pop Culture Reference

David Carradine excelled at the Coupon Shot. All he needs is a belt, a lemon slice, and a hotel room.

  • Pop Culture Reference

Their Friday Night Fish Fry isn’t that good.

  • Pop Culture Reference

You fools! I’m waiting for Zack Snyder to take the Skateboard Kid Cinematic Universe to unheard-of levels of pure awesomeness!

  • Pop Culture Reference

“Very midwest”? Can you explain? Preferably from a Williamsburg bodega with a sessionable IPA in your hand.

  • Pop Culture Reference

    Carnosaur 3: Carne Asada.

  • Pop Culture Reference

Isn’t that every Thursday afternoon in Scotland? Luckily there’s Scotch readily available.

  • Pop Culture Reference

    At least there’s heroin.
    **The More You Know theme**

  • Pop Culture Reference

It’ll still be more interesting than Boyhood.

  • Bleurgh

Google this: Craig DiGregorio on leaving Ash Vs. Evil Dead and the original season two finale

  • Frank Lovejoy

OMG what a disappointment. I thought they said Walking Dead, and I was wondering what they were talking about, but no they were talking about Ash vs. The Evil Hipster Diversity Bullshit Blah Blah.

  • Seth

I’m more concerned about when and if your Rich Evanses will ever drop.

  • Seth

Finally a room that they’ll let people like us into.

    Take mah monay.

  • JackDeth

Who were they talking about on Evil Dead? Bruce Campbell? And what sequence?

  • Seth

    A rogue deadite, I believe.

  • Seth

Nah he just spends 14 hours a day on dialysis.

  • Pol Rua

“Well, women sometimes act crazy when they’re pregnant?”
“Wait… how did you know my wife w… YOU SON OF A BITCH! I’LL KILL YOU!”

    Now THAT’s a film.

  • Craig Rigby

id love for them to cover the show in a full talk.

  • Otherhand

Most of Williamsburg’s IPA drinkers are from the midwest, so they definitely could.

  • Otherhand

It doesn’t come from hipster cunt albums being released. It comes from late-80s hip-hop records being released.

  • Bleurgh

It’s a shame because Season 2 was going gangbusters up until that point, then it hit the wall.

  • Bleurgh

I was going to say the opposite. Jay, Josh and Jack have very similar on camera personas. You need Mike to balance it out.

  • catoblepag .

Fun fact – at 21:37 you can hear the dinosaur growl sound effect from an old King Kong movie that Spielberg reused for the ending in Duel and Jaws 😉 (look at the truck falling in YouTube)

  • Kawaii as Fuck

    Monkey Man lives!

  • Kawaii as Fuck

CUZ YOU’RE ON FIRE WHEN I GRAB YOU BY THE HAND!

  • JonahFalcon

Oh, and that’s why Corman gets so many cameos in famous films — his old protogees cast him in small parts. He was FBI director Burke in Silence of the Lambs, was in Apollo 13, Philadelphia, Godfather Part II, The Howling, Swing Shift, and most impressively, Sharktopus.

  • durhay

Of all the places to see a Flannery O’Connor reference …

  • Welcome Back Otter

Josh tries too hard to be funny and isn’t confident enough to be self deprecating the way the rest of the gang are (especially Rich). But … if I was a member of the RLM gang, I must admit I’d be a Josh.

  • Hank_Henshaw

    Rob Tapert.

They are talking about the morgue scene in the second season of Ash vs. Evil Dead.

The fight over that sequence, and also the season finale, made showrunner Craig DiGregorio choose not to come back for a third season. To be honest, I didn’t like the season finale, but the original concept for it was even worse.

  • Brian Levine

The scene from 2001 with a giant videotape instead of the monolith was already parodied by MST3K. I checked, and only 9 other people already posted this.

  • Brian Levine

FWIW, Derek’s true identity and contact information is protected by WhoisGuard. That company has an anti spam policy and I have reported him. I suspect that greed will win the day.

  • Joe Syxpac

That’s the first time I ever noticed the harness cable from that scene in Alien.

  • Joe Syxpac

I think they’re in the testing phase.

  • Derek Buccheri

why do something new and risky and ambitious when you can rely on the same ole shite over and over again? oh….

  • Frank Lovejoy

I was going to point out, again, how lame, tiresome, predictable, and risky-as-saying-you-voted-for-Hillary your jokes are … but there’s really no defending the Breitbart message boards. We should arrange a dating service between the mentally unstable people who post there and the mentally unstable people who post to OccupyDemocrats.

  • frankelee

Is dying from diabeetus replacing dying while jerking off?

  • Ret Marut

RLM has created a safe space for the exchange of ideas and a celebration of high culture–oh, and RAPE jokes. Yes Mr. Evans, I’m pointing at you.

  • THANK YOU. Finally someone gets this besides me. I wrote up a response to this post but I stopped myself from posting it because I’m tired of saying the words “Hip Hop” because it makes me look corny after awhile and I hate arguing with fucking jerks. I’m a bit one note. (All I care about is hip hop and RLM) But more to the point – don’t try to fucking police how people talk, Devil. You look like a dick. Hip Hop is actually largely responsible for how a lot of people talk in the modern world. Watch the documentary narrated by Idris Elba – 100 ways Hip Hop changed the world. It’s very thorough and quite accurate.

  • ikdks

Is Rich Evans replacing the “is this replacing that” rant…ever?

  • ikdks

    Duel rules.

  • ikdks

    But it… nevermind.

  • ikdks

And he saw mst3k Space Mutiny. He’s not fooling anybody.

  • Robotpals

I’m pretty sure Carnosaur 3 is the one that reuses effects shots from the other Carnosaur films and has a character change outfits for no reason so as to match up with the other footage. All of them end with variations on the forklift vs dinosaur theme.

  • JonahFalcon

Corman’s philosophy is “why make one movie when you can make two for the price of one?”

  • Bob Borries

I really appreciated Mike’s extremely understated humor in this episode, just when I thought he couldn’t get more sarcastic, he exceeded it by not bothering to show up.

  • Wolvy

Mike is at the Oscars this Sunday. He is accepting a lifetime achievement award for hack-fraudery.

  • I’m sure that scene has been parodied all over the place. It’s a very well-known movie and the scenes from it are essentially pop culture at this point. Maybe fading into “irrelevance” with current generations coming up, but for the most part everyone knows what it is. Even if they don’t, they might still be familiar with the bone smashing scene in the same way they are familiar with the “KAAAAHHHNN” yell from Star Trek Wrath of Kahn. In fact – and you can trust my brain on this one – I seem to recall the fetus in space scene being parodied pretty heavily in dozens, if not hundreds of things as well. And the use of the music from the bone scene too is itself used as a joke

  • Eric080

How’s that John Wick 2 half in the bag coming along?

  • jmt

The Corman love made me step away from the ledge. Thanks guys.

  • The Wicker Man (BWF)

Please stop using Josh. He is a fun vacuum and clearly resents and bullies Rich. Also, he is gross. Not Rich hot.

  • The Wicker Man (BWF)

Is ironically saying edgy things online replacing saying edgy things for shock?

  • Robotpals

How can you say all that when JACK IS SITTING RIGHT THERE?

  • Bleurgh

Just watched trainspotting 2. It’s both better than the original on a thematic level and worse than the original on a technical level. It’s worst moments are when it’s borrowing plot-points from or referencing stuff which happened in the original film. The first two acts are great, but it almost totally apart towards the end. It’s sort of a mixed bag, great, some great writing up until it becomes a remake and some good social commentary about how the world has changed. On the other hand it lacks the cool practical effects and grippy visuals of the first film, replaced with lazy copies of the first films cinematography produced with CGI. Oh and the soundtrack is really not very good. I wanted to like it a lot more than I did. It’s like a B- overall, maybe a C+.

  • Bleurgh

So just a regular oscar then?

  • Jaws

It’s full of something, that’s for sure.

  • Jaws

    Sounds like a let down.

  • Jaws

Just goes to show how good Aliens is. Come on James Cameron ditch that Avatar crap, and get back to making good movies. How long has it been.

  • Joe Syxpac

At this point I’d take another Abyss.

  • Bleurgh

It was for me. It was especially disappointing, because as I said it starts off so well in the beginning and just kind of gets worse as it goes along.

  • fred

    They don’t read these.

  • Derrick Cryderman

When Mike isn’t around Rich gets applause
When Mike is around, Rich has diabetes

  • The Wicker Man (BWF)

If you are a fan of Roger Corman and Charles Band, you should watch Fullmoon’s “Kings of Cult” It’s about an hour interview between the two and they are both fun to listen to.

  • RLMkeepitup

the end of this ep makes me realize how odd that all these films have sequels at all

I think Robert Evans gets a little more credit for Coppola than Corman.

  • Pop Culture Reference

    Me personally–
    **sips loudly**

  • Pop Culture Reference

They all look pretty round, except for Jay who is puckish and short like an off-brand Seth Green, and Jack, who is muscular and hunky.

  • Pop Culture Reference

When you stare into the Abyss, the CGI animation stares back.

  • Pop Culture Reference

    At least there’s heroin.

Mike had to visit an all-night wicker store first.

    Stop being formulaic.

  • Pop Culture Reference

The monolith scene was also parodied in “Community.” Did you know that show makes many pop cultural references?

  • Pop Culture Reference

MICK JAGGER: I’m a monkaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyy!!! MAN!!!

  • sigaba

From what I undertand he wanted way more credit on Gunfighter than he deserved or his pay grade merited, and frankly considering the Roger Corman westerns I’ve seen I can’t inagine his contributions were earth-shattering.

  • Pop Culture Reference

OccupyDemocrats and Breitbart are both useless sources for news. Almost as useless as the people who read them. Then again, the Far Left and the Far Right thrive on the posturing blather of useless idiots.

Is Jack the only one with a wife and kids?

  • Taking revenge for Mike replacing him as Plinkett.

  • Cameron’s problem (well, one of them) is that he can’t imagine a conflict from the antagonist’s point of view. This is fine—or even an asset—for an inherently inhuman antagonist like an alien monster, a murderbot from the future, or an iceberg, but results in human antagonists like that military guy or Billy Zane coming off as stiff, one-dimensional, and difficult to take seriously.

He’d do much better work if he found a creative collaborator to handle developing and writing the antagonists in his movies, and ceded sufficient authority to that person, or just quit trying to make movies with antagonists that need to have human motivations altogether.

  • It would also take less time to make.

  • JonahFalcon

He got NO credit for this work.

  • JonahFalcon

Robert Evans didn’t give Coppola his chance. He only hired him because he was Italian and he wanted an Italian director The Godfather. Coppola had already directed a few films before Coppola pegged him (You’re a Big Boy Now, Finian’s Rainbow, The Rain People, etc). But if Corman didn’t give him his start, Evans would have never hired him.

Josh is fine, so long as he doesn’t try to be funny and doesn’t give Rich the ole stinkeye. But he does know what an anamorphic lens is. Kids go crazy for aspect ratios!

  • sigaba

He was a script reader who essentially gave notes, calling him a CE would be generous and CEs customarily don’t get credit for that sort of work. If he deserved more is a question for a WGA arbitration jury 🙂

When can the Nerd Crew guest host Best of the Worst? They have such valid opinions on pop culture!

Oh my god Mike and Jay actually liked Split. The dumbest movie ever made.

Midwest humor is about noticing inconsistencies and peculiarities.
Modern humor is about smashing someone’s face in with a cinder block and the punch line is that person was different.

Don’t be silly, Shyamalan has made a lot of movies that are dumber than Split. Go watch The Happening.

Buy the Switch? Don’t buy it? As a former Nintendo and Zelda fan it would be the right choice on paper but this Breath of the Wild same as Skyward Sword and Wind Waker isn’t the Zelda I dreamt of. This Zelda would have been darker and not in this comic style grafic. But Zelda gets from release to release more and more colorful. No, I’ll wait for other releases, Metroid and titles from 3rd party developers and then decide.

bcs he had his sausage fingers intertwined. Having such fingers myself I can tell you it is a pretty painfull experience to de-intertwine them in a quick movement! But if he does it slowly and then raise his hands it would have looked lame. As if his brain needs some extra seconds to understand what is going on. So we usually do nothing in such situations. Yeah, we sausage finger people don’t have it easy.

Given that people like you are currently putting on black facemasks and burning cities and attacking people, while the party that represents them conducts McCarthy-esque witch hunts (“Have you now, or have you ever, spoken with a COMMUNIST?!?”) … I’d urge some introspection.

Definition of “carnosaur” = any of a group (Carnosauria) of very large theropod dinosaurs.

“People like you”? That’s painting with a rather broad brush. You know how hard it is to burn down a city? How could I possibly do that and be an entitled Millennial at the same time? That would be some next level multitasking.

And when were the Democrats anti-Communist? Given the sensible and rational journalism of Breitbart, I’d have thought the Democrats were made up entirely of card-carrying Soviet Communist Russians, Feminazis, Gay Agenda-havers, and the occasional Liberal Jew?

And for you, I’d urge suicide. No wait, that’s cruel. That presumes a level of hand-eye coordination. Sorry about the problematic virtue-signaling pro-Semitic post.

At least your God Emperor’s Muslim Ban is working out splendidly.

My apologies, I should have said people like you, but not morbidly obese and too cripplingly stupid to know how to combine flint and tinder.

Of course, the Democrat party has never met a Commie they didn’t love. From gay-murdering Che to dissident-imprisoning Castro to Kulak-murdering Stalin to today’s neo-Marxists … what a great and proud record. Almost as great as Hillary hugging and kissing a Kleagle on his birthday. But the point is actually that Democrats are never too low for any form of hypocrisy, and their followers never smart enough to see it.

And as for your final comment: I am not a fan of Trump. Didn’t vote for him, don’t think he was the best choice, and was morbidly offended that it came down to a murdering, traitorous, felonious psychopath versus a reality TV-show jagoff. People like you, though, make me glad he’s President. The fact that you buy this “Muslim ban” nonsense just shows how gullible you are.

Oh, and you forgot even a lame attempt at a joke … or any pop culture references this time. It’s okay, my jokes are funnier and more relevant than yours anyway 😀

Josh mentions Adam West, and it reminded me that we are still to have him do a cameo in a Batman movie. I mean, Marvel keeps shoving Stan Lee everywhere, I wished DC would get Adam West and Burt Ward, to me it would be far more endearing. Man, make West the new Alfred, or the mayor of Gotham! Then the DC Universe would be part of the Family Guy universe!
